Gekrochen kommen GATECREEPER ja nicht gerade. Eher schmettern uns die amerikanischen Kaktusfäller ihr drittes Full-Length-Album „An Unexpected Reality“ um die Ohren, nachdem sich die Band mit dem Vorgänger „Deserted“ auf die Landkarte vieler Old-School-Jünger katapultieren konnte und nicht nur in der heimischen Wüste richtig Staub aufgewirbelt hat. Zurecht: Das Album ist ein Old-School-Death-Brocken par excellence, der dennoch frisch und heavy klingt.
Mit dem Scheibchen im Rücken hat die Band natürlich einiges an Momentum aufgenommen, sodass es wenig wundert, dass „An Unexpected Reality“ in die gleiche Kerbe schlägt. Dennoch macht sich rasch bemerkbar, dass sich die Band nicht direkt wiederholt, auch wenn die Grundzutaten die Gleichen geblieben sind. GATECREEPER haben ihrem Sound noch mehr Schwere verliehen und lassen ihren Todesblei richtig heavy grooven. Dieser Band gehört die Zukunft!
